We are asking for your help to improve the Ridge Nature Area! We are currently undertaking a ecological restoration project that involves removing invasive plant species and replanting with native species. We will be undertaking the first phase of the restoration project that involves removing invasive plant species, mainly privet, that are threatening to push out the native species that keep the forest diverse and resilient.
You will have the opportunity to learn about what ecological restoration is, why it is important, the invasive and native plant species found at the Ridge, as well as how past farming and man-made alterations to the landscape have allowed for invasive species to be introduced. You will also be playing a large role in helping to keep your local park healthy and making sure that the wildlife that inhabit the area continue to have the resources they need to thrive!
