Nature For Fayette
This GivingTuesday, the Southern Conservation Trust will celebrate giving by increasing public nature areas and environmental education in Fayette County.
GivingTuesday, taking place December 3rd, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day, and touches every person on the planet.
The Southern Conservation Trust currently protects over 1,000 acres of public land in Fayette County with 8 public nature areas. These public nature areas have allowed us to provide environmental education and outdoor recreation programming to over 2500 participants. We have outgrown our current office and environmental education facility and are looking to expand our local environmental programs. Our purchase of a new office in Fayetteville will allow us to expand our public education, conservation, public nature areas, and preservation in Fayette County and across the Southeast. Help us make this expansion possible by joining us in our Nature for Fayette Campaign this Giving Tuesday.
You can join our campaign by making a donation, purchasing a Nature for Fayette shirt, and by joining us on November 29 for our Opt Outside Volunteer Day at one of our new nature areas, Somerby Woods in Peachtree City.
Donate to our campaign buying your own Nature for Fayette shirt today! Available in two designs with a variety of sizes and colors, every purchase of this shirt goes towards our public nature areas and new nature center in Fayette County.
Join us on November 29 at Somerby Woods for a day of service inspired by REI’s Opt Outside movement. For several years, REI has encouraged people to Opt Outside on Black Friday and immerse themselves in nature. This year, REI is encouraging people to spend this day engaging in action to clean up and improve our environment.
YOU can be a part of this movement by joining us at Somerby Woods Nature Area. We will spend the day mulching the trail and removing trash. Help us put the final touches on what will be a new nature area in Fayette County.
We will provide all equipment necessary. Please bring a water bottle, work gloves, and wear appropriate clothing for work outdoors.
