Adventure Challenges are a Hero for Nature Member Perk!

Your membership is family-inclusive for 2 adults & up to 4 children. 

 

 

Each season you can find new adventure challenges to complete. For each challenge you can earn a patch to add to your collection. Be sure to let us know you have completed a challenge using the directions indicated for each challenge.

Earth Day Pollinator Service Project

Location: At-home

 

Difficulty- Easy

 

Join us in helping pollinators during this prime planting season. Plant Georgia native species that help attract pollinators.

When your project is complete email volunteer@sctlandtrust.org with a photo of your pollinator garden and how many hours you dedicated to earn your badge.

Backyard Bird Habitat

Difficulty- Intermediate

 

Build a birdhouse to accommodate native bird species. You must build the birdhouse. This can be your own design using your own supplies or you can purchase a pre-cut kit from SCT for a $10 donation.  Now create a DIY bird feeder to add nearby. To purchase a kit please email danika@sctlandtrust.org.

 

To earn your badge you must send a photo during the progress of building your habitat along with a finished product in your own backyard. Double points if you capture a photo a bird checking it out.

Hike Mule Rock

Location: Line Creek Nature Area in Peachtree City, GA

 

Difficulty Level- Easy

Georgia Native Bird Sighting Challenge

Location: Sam’s Lake Bird Sanctuary (Fayetteville, GA)

 

Difficulty level-Intermediate

 

Click here for a list of species that can be found at Sams Lake. 

 

You can also download the ebird app and go to the Sams Lake Hotspot.

 

Try to capture a picture of any bird you spot, you can also screenshot any data you contribute to the site. Double points if you get a picture of a species listed without a photo.

Hero for Nature Volunteer Challenge

Location: Any SCT Public Nature Area

 

Difficulty level-Easy

 

If you haven’t already you can submit your volunteer application here.

 

After you complete the application our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you with further instruction. Projects will vary depending on your skillset and range from a simple trash pick-up (family-friendly) to building benches. 

 

After you complete your volunteer project please complete the form here to receive your badge.
